We wanted to know from the guys themselves, what’s the toughest part of being a plumber in Cape Town? While most had different answers, all of them had one thing in common. Stick around to find out what all plumbers have in common.
Tough Plumbing Services
Bruce R. (Professional Plumber In Cape Town)
Getting people to pay you for your plumbing services if you’re working for yourself from home. That was probably the toughest part I struggled with in the early days of my plumbing career.
Casablanca C. (Retired Plumber – Bellville)
I’d say it’s the strain you put on your body – the wear and tear. When you start your plumbing career you’re fresh, healthy, and ready to take on any job – But in the end, you’re left with ruined knees, back problems, scars, etc. So if I can give a young plumber a piece of advice, start with installation work, and later in your career, focus on repair work.
Donald M. (Self-employed plumber in the Claremont area)
The toughest part of being a plumber is being exposed to biological contaminants and carcinogens (something that can cause you to get cancer)
Jonathan A. (Apprentice plumber in Somerset-West)
For me, although I am new in the plumbing game, dealing with blocked toilets is probably the toughest part. Especially when clients call you after hours for plumbing jobs.
Elridge F. (Rendering plumbing services in Table View since 1995)
Some days are easy, some days are really difficult. It all depends on the job. Some pipes are more difficult to work on than others. So it all comes down to how everything is laid out. I remember one of the toughest jobs I had to do was dealing with a sewer clog some years ago. It was so bad that we had to get an excavation expert
Shaun B. (Plumber & Repairman in Cape Town)
I’d say the tight spaces you have to work in, but oh well, it’s part of the job.
Leroy J. (Plumbing contractor in Milnerton)
All the housewives hitting on me LOL.
Conclusion
As we can see, each plumber has his/her own take on what’s the most difficult part of rendering plumbing services. What we found that all of them have in common is this:
We asked them: If you could go back in time, would you choose a different profession?
They all answered NO. I love what I do.
