Cape Town residents are urged to prepare for a series of scheduled water outages and pressure disruptions affecting various suburbs this week. These interruptions are necessary to facilitate essential maintenance and upgrades to the City of Cape Town’s water infrastructure.

Scheduled Maintenance Dates & Affected Areas
Tuesday, 22 July 2025
📍 Thembokwezi, Khayelitsha
- Time: 08:00 – 18:00
- Reason: Pipeline tie-in work
- Impact: Complete water shut-off
- Emergency supply: Water tankers will be stationed in the area
Wednesday, 23 July 2025
📍 Olive Grove area
- Time: 10:00 – 16:00
- Work: Zero-pressure testing (ZPT)
- Impact: Reduced water pressure or brief outages
Thursday, 24 July 2025
Multiple areas will be affected on this day:
📍 Muizenberg & Vrygrond (Sanderling Road)
- Time: 09:00 – 17:00
- Reason: Installation of a new control valve
- Impact: Temporary water shutdown
📍 Protea Village (Bishopscourt, Winchester Avenue)
- Time: 09:00 – 18:00
- Reason: Network expansion
- Impact: Complete shutdown in affected streets
📍 Peerless Park (Hoff & Steytler Streets)
- Time: 10:00 – 12:00
- Reason: Valve maintenance
- Impact: Brief shutdown
📍 Bizweni 1 Area, Somerset West
- Time: 10:00 – 16:00
- Reason: ZPT
- Impact: Low pressure or brief interruptions
What You Can Do to Prepare
We recommend all Aqua Tech clients and residents in affected areas take the following steps:
✅ Before the Outage
- Fill clean containers with water for drinking, cooking, and hygiene.
- Store water in buckets for flushing toilets.
- Shut off taps to prevent flooding when water is restored.
- Notify staff, tenants, or household members about the interruption.
✅ During the Outage
- Use water sparingly.
- Access water tankers provided by the City where available.
- Monitor pressure levels when using appliances.
✅ After the Outage
- Open taps slowly to release any trapped air in pipes.
- Check for leaks or unusual noises in your plumbing system.
- Contact Aqua Tech for a post-outage inspection if needed.
